My community map and local area information.
Our local transformation programme - to deliver our new model of care; My Life a Full Life - has formed the basis of a wider plan with health and care organisations facing similar challenges across the South – called the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Sustainability Transformation Partnership. These plans are all focused on empowering people to help them stay well and providing safe, high quality, consistent and affordable healthcare for everyone.
Our local care plan and local care system will continue to meet the needs of local people and by working together with other care systems across our region we can also benefit from sharing best practice and ensuring we are better co-ordinated across the region when we make local changes. It also gives us scope for sharing expertise and resources to make sure we can offer the best care to Island residents.
On the Isle of Wight we are already working with the Solent Acute Alliance (comprising University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and Lymington Hospital) to supplement our on-Island services particularly where we have needed specialist expertise and equipment.
We are committed to finding the right balance of providing on and off-Island healthcare to ensure our residents receive high quality, safe and sustainable healthcare while keeping the distances travelled down to the absolute minimum wherever possible.

A ‘Question Time’ style event at which members of the public, local politicians, and interest groups will be invited to quiz a panel of local experts will kick-start a programme of events to discuss how acute (hospital based) services could be provided in the future on the Island.
